Execution Of Work
275.

Before commencing the work of even designing the building the North South and East West direction should be ascertained by means of Shankustaapana or Mariner's compass which normally is the practice now.

After determining the perfect directions, the site has to be rectified i.e. extensions if any to the undesirable corners to be cut off by erecting a compound wall. Level of the plot also shall be as per the rules prescribed.

Vastu Pooja and Ganapathi Pooja should be performed in the North_East corner of the Plot before commencing the construction work.

Excavation work should start from North_East corner. It should continue from North_East to South_East and from North_East to North_West and then to South_West. At no time the North_East should be higher than South_West.

Construction work shall commence from South_West and progress towards North East.

280.

Vastu Pooja shall be performed on three occassions:
1. At the beginning.
2. In the middle when fixing the main door.
3. At the end during Grahapravesha or House warming ceremony.

Grahapravesha ceremony should not be performed unless the Building is completed in all respects.

For all the important occasions an auspicious moment or Muhurta should be choosen in consultation with the learned priest or astrologer.

Vaishaka (April _ May), Shravana (July _ Aug) Margashira (Nov _ Dec) Pushya (Dec _ Jan) and Phalguna (Feb _ Mar) are good months to commence the work, but the day should be in Shuklapaksha i.e. New Moon day to Full Moon day and not in Krishan Paksha.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays are good days to commence the work or any other work like fixing the door or grahapravesha.

But when the commencement of work . can be in Dakshinayana (July 16th to January 14th) Grahapravesha should only be in Uttarayana (Jan 14th to July 15th).

Before the Grahapravesha no cooking shall be done inside the House, no one shall use the toilets and sleep in the new house.

287.

The new house shall be well decorated and well lit for the function and all the rituals connected with the function, according to the tradition of the family and the religion, shall be carried out sincerely and whole heartedly.

288.

Treating the guests and the workers to a tasty and sumptuous lunch, presenting those associated with its completion with gifts etc., shall be the part of the rituals connected with Grahapravesha.

289.

After the function the owners shall not lock the House and get away but continue to occupy and stay in the house and from that very day onwards daily oil lamps will be lit and kept in front of the deity enshrined in the Pooja room.
